Kamala Harris Backs Lacy Clay on August 4th
Cites Clay’s Bold Reforms As Co-Author of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act
WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Kamala Harris (D) California today announced her powerful endorsement of Congressman Lacy Clay in Missouri’s Democratic Primary on August 4th.
Senator Harris, who like Congressman Clay is a leading member of the Congressional Black Caucus, said, “Lacy Clay has been in the trenches with me taking action to help write and then pass the landmark George Floyd Justice in Policing Act in the U.S. House. Our legislation would ban choke holds, end qualified immunity for bad cops, require deescalation training for all police officers, and finally make lynching a federal crime.” The Senator continued, “Whether it’s police reform, providing healthcare for all, or fighting the Republican assault to suppress your voting rights, Lacy Clay is a champion for the people with real backbone. I’m honored to support his reelection.”
“Kamala Harris carries the hopes of millions of progressive voters with her and I’m so proud to have earned her support,” said the Congressman. “On Tuesday, August 4th, justice is on the ballot. Voting rights are on the ballot, and police reform and tearing down systemic racism are on the ballot too. Kamala and I stand together in St. Louis and across the nation, fighting for the people.”
Clay, a founding member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and a senior member of the Congressional Black Caucus, has also earned the coveted endorsements of the Progressive Caucus PAC; the CBC PAC, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the Sierra Club, the EQUALITY PAC, and he has been named a candidate of distinction by Mothers Demand Action Against Gun Violence.
On August 4th, Stay With Clay!
