Wm. Lacy Clay was elected to the U. S. House of Representatives in 2000 and was chosen as President of the Democratic freshman class, that year, by his fellow incoming members. His effective leadership, understanding of the issues and the political process, and ability to move legislation has earned Congressman Clay positions on several key committees and subcommittees. Currently, Congressman Clay serves as Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Information Policy, Census and National Archives. This subcommittee handles public information and records laws such as the Freedom of Information Act.
